About the Program
A Platform to Thrive is an evidence-informed student engagement program that uses structured physical activity and movement to strengthen students' connection with school while developing the confidence, resilience and life skills needed to succeed both in and beyond the classroom. Suitable for students who are disengaged, at risk of disengagement, or those who would benefit from additional support with wellbeing, confidence, relationships or engagement, the program provides an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every participant has the opportunity to thrive.
Through purposeful activity, students develop the personal, social and emotional capabilities that underpin lifelong success. Each session is designed to strengthen communication, teamwork, emotional regulation, resilience, problem-solving and decision-making while fostering self-awareness, responsibility and goal setting. By engaging students through movement, the program provides an alternative pathway for learning that enhances wellbeing, participation, school attendance and engagement.
‘A Platform to Thrive’ evaluates its impact through qualitative and quantitative measures, tracking individual progress, personal development, and overall well-being. Key evaluation criteria include improved self-confidence, enhanced communication skills and increased school attendance. A Depression Anxiety Stress Scales- Youth Version (DASS-Y) tool is used to monitor and evaluate the efficacy of the program
Within the program, youth gain valuable life skills, develop a sense of belonging, and build positive relationships with peers. The program equips participants with the tools necessary to navigate challenges, make informed decisions, and pursue their personal and professional goals, ultimately empowering them to become active and productive members of society.
